OHAfrica works in partnership with the Government of Lesotho’s Ministry of Health and Social Welfare to support the implementation and expansion of HIV/AIDS treatment and care services throughout the country.

OHAfrica:

  • Is directly involved in providing care and antiretroviral drug therapy (ARVs) to people living with HIV/AIDS, and provides support and training to local health care providers working in HIV/AIDS care;
  • Provides teams of Canadian HIV expert health care professionals and volunteers to assist in HIV/AIDS treatment and care services at the Tšepong "Place of Hope" Clinic in Leribe, Lesotho;
  • Provides training and capacity building support to local health care providers involved in HIV/AIDS care at Tšepong Clinic and throughout the District of Leribe;
  • Works with nurses and health care workers at community-based primary care centres to support the roll-out of HIV/AIDS testing and treatment programs to the community level and to support the integration of HIV/AIDS programs into local health care systems;
  • Assists in the development of community programs and support groups that provide education and assistance to people living with HIV/AIDS;
  • Collaborates with local policy makers, government and other local and international agencies working on HIV/AIDS to develop a long-term plan for providing HIV/AIDS care in Lesotho.
